When using the leg press, my favourite foot placing is a wide stance with my feet pointed outwards, as it has more emphasis on my adductors and hamstrings. A shoulder width stance is great for overall leg development and a narrow stance will have more emphasis on your outer quads and abductors. Of course, it's usually in your best interest to alternate between different placings. Something to remember: The higher the foot placing, the more emphasis you will have on your glutes and hamstrings. The lower the foot placing, the more emphasis you will have on your quads. By constantly changing them daily or weekly you don’t give your muscles enough time to adapt to the routine and stimulate growth or improvement This however is different when designing a HIIT program. The idea here is to get your HR to 90% of its maximum, the best way to achieve this is to do a variety of exercises performed in a superset style So, how do I come up with a workout that best suits me? Firstly we need to understand what HIIT is - The foundation of HIIT is a series of intervals of intense activity, coupled with intervals of less-intense activity or complete rest. HIIT’s a great way to get fit in a short amount of time. But the key is to ensure that the high-intensity intervals are truly performed at your highest intensity. 1️⃣Try choosing exercises that include weights to really get your HR up and burn those extra calories, you shouldn’t be able to hold a conversation while doing the exercise 2️⃣Choose exercises that are performed on multiple planes and include level changes, left, right, up and down to really help kick your HR up 3️⃣ Choose exercises that target your weaker areas for example. Came across this frame while setting up for the edit. Would make for a badass looking mural in my home gym... if I had one. #framegrab from day 2's shoot from a few weeks back for @the_cartelle at @ufcgym with Cartelle's newest badass inductee, @melanie_valeriefit! We had our Joker fail on us (bulb blew up) before we even started shooting so we shot throughout the whole night with only a couple of 1x1 LEDs and a few 650w tungstens. Sunday late afternoon is not a good time for a bulb to blow but we figured out how to make it work. The Helium sensor was surprisingly clean. I've struggled in the past to tame the noise and green tint on this guy but I'm starting to get the hang of it. We crossed the 200 shot threshold for the first time filming these. Celebratory 3am tailgate scotch drinking ensued with the chief. Filmed on the #redepicw with the #sigmaart50mm. I don't really know exactly what the lighting setup for this shot was. I kept moving the lights around between the close-ups to get what I thought looked good. Day 26 of my 90 day shred #90dayshred . Today was chest and baby cows. . The video is of me doing flat bench flyes, I like to do these with a shorter range of motion than most. I don't bring them all the way into the middle like most do as I find the tension decreases towards the middle. I perform probably 2/3 of the range of motion stopping at the top with probably a foot between the dumbbells. This is also something the great @schwarzenegger recommends in his encyclopedia of bodybuilding (if you havent read it then you need to get a copy). . Workout: - Incline walking (10 minute warmup) - Incline bench press (4 sets of 8-10 reps) - Flat bench dumbbell flyes (4 sets of 8-10 reps) - Machine seated bench press (5 sets of 8-10 reps) - Cable crossovers (5 sets of 12-15 reps) - Smith machine calf raises (5 sets of 12-15 reps) - Seated calf raises (4 sets of 15-20 reps) .
